Sudan

Sudan is the largest country in Africa and is one of the worlds poorest countries. Sudan sits on a large amount of oil but can not be used because of the on going conflict that is happening in Sudan. Sudan has been split into North Sudan and South Sudan, North being more developed and mostly Muslim and South being full of poverty and is consisted mostly of Christians.



Location: Sudan is located in Africa bordered by the Red Sea, between Eritrea and Egypt.



Capital: Khartoum



Area: Just bigger than 1/4 the size of US



Climate(s): South is tropical and North is more of a desert.



Population: 40,218,456



Ethnic Groups: Black - 52%, Arab - 39%, Beja - 6%, Foreigners - 2%, Others - 1%



Religions: Sunni Muslim - 70%, Christian - 5%, Indigenous beliefs - 25%
